Fabíola Ortiz dos Santos, 29, is a Brazilian freelance journalist reporting in Portuguese, Spanish and English about human rights, international affairs and sustainable development. She has attended U.N. forums and other international conferences on related issues and travelled to over 20 countries worldwide. She has contributed to the Inter Press Service and a UK based website RTCC – Responding to Climate Change and SciDev.net. Since 2011, she has published in the Brazilian press Universo Online, Opera Mundi, Veja.com, Folha de São Paulo and a website member of The Guardian Environmental Network. In the past she worked in the Rio de Janeiro bureau of Agence France Presse and the Portuguese news agency LUSA. She has been a finalist twice for journalism awards for her reports on sustainable development in Brazil. Ms Ortiz was a contributor to the 2014 book “Until the Rulers Obey: Voices from Latin American Social Movements” edited by Marcy Rein and Clifton Ross.
