An independent journalist reporting from the United Nations, Ms. Leopold is a contributor to the Huffington Post. She was bureau chief for Reuters at the UN for 17 years. At Reuters she was a news editor for North America, the editor for the company’s Africa region, based in Nairobi, and associate editor worldwide. She was a correspondent in Britain and in Germany, as well as in New York and Washington. She was the recipient of an Alicia Patterson Fellowship and co-authored a book on women in East Germany while living in Berlin. Ms. Leopold was awarded the gold medal for U.N. reporting by the UN Correspondents Association. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the Newswomen’s Club of New York and serves on the board of the Overseas Press Club and the U.N. Correspondents Association.

Support The Fund

Although the Fund is based at the United Nations, it does not receive financial support from the world organization. The Fund’s program for journalists relies entirely on financial support from U.N. Missions, foundations, organizations and individuals.
